I just saw the news today that Royals’ flame-thrower Yordano Ventura died in a car accident. Although I am not a Royals fan, Ventura has always been special to me because he was the first Major League player I photographed at Spring Training a few years back. It was so fun trying to capture the feeling of speed in someone throwing 100 mph. Below are a few of my favorite images I captured of Ventura throwing a bullpen session.
In the image below, I slowed the shutter down just a little to keep his body in focus while showing how fast his arm was moving.
In this final image, I slowed the shutter down even further to render his whole body in motion. I then added some light and boosted some colors to render the image a little more abstract.
