After being sick in Paris, I just didn’t have the energy to get out for the sunrise, but that didn’t stop me from setting up on our hotel balcony. I ignored the sky because it offered nothing. Instead, I wanted to capture the soft light on the buildings right before they turned out the street lights. The big problem was the ugly cars lining the street. I decided to pull out the Lensbaby, which allowed me to get rid of the street and the sky and focus on the important part of the scene–the buildings.
