Jogging back to the parking lot from the Toadstools in Grand Staircase-Escalante, I had to stop and shoot the range with its awesome striations. It was mid-afternoon so the light was very harsh so I decided to use the opportunity to practice different techniques. The result–this 18-image composite.
First, there are six different focal points to ensure maximum depth of field. For each focal point, I also took three different exposures. In lightroom, I blended the three exposures for each focal point into 1 hdr image so I was left with 6 different hdr images for each focal point. Those images were then taken into photoshop and blended to expose the in-focus portion of each image.
