Grafton, Utah

Grafton is a tiny little ghost town consisting of just a few vacant buildings west of Rockville outside the entrance to Zion. You should be able to find it on any gps or mobile map service. It’s a dirt road that winds for a couple miles off the highway–just stick to the right whenever there is a fork.
This was my first time doing any kind of night or astro photography and Jim Harmer from Improve Photography helped me quite a bit. In addition to teaching me the tricks and helping with settings, he handled all the lighting with his iphone. We played around a lot at the vacant house and by the time we got to this church/school, we only had time for two shots. The first one was good, but there wasn’t quite enough light painted on the side of the building so we took one more shot and I was happy with the result. I played around a lot more the next day when we went to Page, Arizona and will share a couple of those soon.
