Sintra, Portugal

Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see a real castle. I have seen a number of them in Eastern Europe, but the Tower of London was the closest to what I had in my mind and it just felt too touristy. The Castle of the Moors in Sintra, however, is exactly what I always thought an old castle would look like. It was pretty run down, but it was well worth the half-day trip from Lisbon.
Unfortunately, we got stuck in a storm while we were there so we didn’t spend a ton of time there. I grabbed this image of the view of the storm coming in from a castle window.
