Avalanche Lake is an amazing place within Glacier National Park.  It was one of the places I knew I didn’t want to miss while I was there.  Luckily, I had a late flight out and had time to hike out there my last morning.  It was one of the more nerve wracking hikes I have done.  Not because it was hard at all, but because I was by myself in the mostly dark through a thick forest with a trail head that said to never hike alone because of Grizzly bears.

That risk was well worth the amazing feeling of spending about an hour in the silence of this lake, surrounded by mountains on three sides, before another soul made it through the forest.
